This building in Madrid, as CosmoCaixa in the same city, seeks the lightness of the supporting structures of the glass. In this case it is solved with stretchers and crosspieces holding glasses directly. An ethylene-propylene element joins the glasses among them as a gasket. To prevent the system from being deformed by the action of wind, the outside stretcher is prestressed to 60t, so that even in case of strong winds it never gets compressive load.
Together with the overhang of the roof, and to protect this large glazing from the direct action of solar radiation, some great tubular slat screens are added; subduing solar radiation and natural light.
In the skylights of the high parts of the undulating roof, great slats avoid direct entry of radiation and redirect and spread natural light into the interior space.
