Pivoting awnings in a house by Egon Eiermann [298]
Eiermann is an architect with a parallel life with the Catalan architect Antoni Coderch with whom he shared other interests like solar protection and furniture design.
The image shows how the large glasses are protected with a pivoting awning placed at the right height to complement the protection offered by the cantilever of the deck.
The awnings can pivot horizontally reflecting light to inside if they are horizontal or protecting the bottom of the window if they are nearly vertical. Sliding curtains complete the comfort of protection.
