Light and privacy with lace curtains in Menorca [582]

Photo: Ignacio ParicioIntimacy on ground floors requires some protection against the curiosity of passersby. In traditional architecture there usually are some curtains that let viewing from the inside, but, due to its outer whiteness, do not allow glimpsing inside when the outside light is more intense. These curtains involve some loss of natural light, so necessary in these lower floors. That is why almost all windows have skylights and the curtains do not usually cover the upper parts of the opening.
