Pneumatic wheels on huge sliding panels [565]

To expand the size of exterior solar protection has always been a desire of the architect to radically change the linking conditions between outside and inside in a high room. In "Illa de la llum" [see here] we projected six meters high sliding louvered panels hanging from an upper guide. The tremendous weight of the panels, hung nearly a hundred meters high against sea winds, forced us to place bulky guiding mechanisms. It would have been better if we had arranged panels with bottom support. The pneumatic wheels of this example are sure to make the sliding of these large panels much more easy.
