Exterior shutters in Tomé de Sousa, Joao Álvaro Rocha [338]

Joao Alvaro Rocha built some beautiful homes in which white volumes play with generous use of wooden window frames.

In this case the wooden walls form an open-sided courtyard where two sides are locked with wooden window frames protected by exterior shutters.

Outdoor shutters are pivotable vertical axis so that open forms ribs perpendicular to the facade. When locked give thermal protection, security and darkening
